Three different evening programmes are presented by this ensemble of well knows artists – six personalities of dance. The ensemble was founded last year as part of the project DANCE ON by Madeline Ritter. She started with the idea to use the enormous wealth of experience, the artistic potential and the individual stage presence of dancers beyond the age of forty and to ask questions on topics such as the value of age and the social appreciation of older dancers The project aims at a basic reflection of a contemporary understanding of art and artists in changing social parameters. “…an older dancer is able to touch, enthrall or unsettle through his expertise and his skills, without lifting a leg extremely high or to pirouette ever so often – that is our role as artists”, says Christopher Roman, dancer and artistic director of the ensemble. In the co-operation between DANCE ON and choreographers such as William Forsythe, Matteo Fargion, Kat Válastur und Rabih Mroué, a spectre of different aesthetic positions unfolds – stringent and diverse at the same time.
